The project explorer is used to add, delete, copy and move recordsets and folders.

Multi-select

Multi-select can be performed in several ways:

  • By holding the left mouse button and dragging the selection box over the Recordsets and folders you want to include in the selection.
  • By holding the CTRL key and clicking the items you want to select or deselect.
  • By holding the SHIFT key you select items that are adjacent. Click the first item, then press the SHIFT key and hold it. Click the last item and release the SHIFT key.

The folder structure

The folder tree starts with the "Root of C# project" element. Subfolders can be added by clicking the [Folder] button.


The folder structure you define will be added to the C# output projects you selected in the Project Settings page.


All folders in the explorer are managed by Ventura SQL Studio. Contents of these folders in the Visual Studio C# output project folders will be deleted when running the code generator. Sub-folders that don't belong there are also be deleted.

Checkbox button

Toggle the display of the checkbox used to enable/disable a recordset. A disabled recordset will be excluded from code generation. The checkbox is equivalent to the "Enabled" checkbox in the Recordset settings view of the recordset editor page.


The name of a disabled recordset will be displayed as struck through in the project explorer's tree view.

Recordset button

Create a new recordset. Start by entering a recordset name. The name must be a valid C# identifier. The name must end with the word "Recordset". The word will be added automatically if missing.



The Recordset editor page is opened when you click [New].

Folder button

Create a new subfolder in the selected folder.

Copy button

Copy the selected folders and recordsets to the destination folder. A window opens where you can select the destination folder.



When a folder or recordset with the same name already exists in the destination folder, then the name of that folder or recordset will be preceded by the word "CopyOf". For example "CustomerRecordset" will become "CopyOfCustomerRecordset".

Move button

Move the selected folders and recordsets to the destination folder. A destination folder selection window opens where you need to select the destination folder. Not all move operations are allowed. Ventura will display an error message when the move operation is not possible.

Delete button

Delete the selected folders and recordsets from the Ventura SQL Studio project.

Run Auto Create Recordsets button

This will automatically create and add recordsets to the project. These recordsets for meant for basic data operations. You can configure the module in the Auto Create Recordsets Settings window
